Prime Minister David Cameron
recently said that the “magnetic pull” of U.K. benefits is one of
the reasons why a lot of people want to migrate to the nation. Many
aspire to one day live a better life in the U.K. than continue on
what they are accustomed to in their birth countries. But the recent
pronouncements from the government have made it clear that they would
start taking firm action to ensure that the Kingdom’s citizens are
put first.
While the new policy might seem
burdensome to those who seek to migrate to the U.K., policymakers
have clarified that this does not mean that there’s no longer a
chance for foreigners to gain citizenship. Those who want to come to
Britain for the right reasons and those who seek to contribute to the
welfare of the society, and not just benefit from it, are always
welcome to go through the legal process of achieving
citizenship.
